Re: Glasgow

I definitely like nr 2. I like the dramatic dark look of the graveyard.
Which lens did you use?

Re: Glasgow

I like all of these except No 1 as the DoF was too shallow to take it this close. You'd have been better stepping back a couple of feet and zooming in so that the DoF was increased as it really needs the cross on the top to be sharp.

These orbs made of iron like this were common in poorer areas where the making of a normal orb was simply too expensive. This simple rustic style orb with cross would often have had a small candle in the centre during ceremonies and represented Christ as the Light of the World. They are similar in origin to the symbolism of the later Christingle, now commonly used in homes and churches at Christmas time.

They were sometimes welded to casks and other such things, often as decorative additions to a long staff and even as a holder for incense, though not commonly so, in orthodox religious ceremonies.

Hope that helps you on that one. I love the others, they have captured the various elements of the cathedral very well. Very nice lighting on the last 3 and lovely moody feel on the mono shot. I would pull the top edges out to straighten the CVs on that as I don't think they add to the picture but the atmospheric touch added by lightening the seated figure and darkening the rest has really worked well.

Good stuff Fi

Rob

Re: Glasgow

Great set there Fiona. #4 is the one that most grabs my attention as well but they are all good shots and very nicely exposed.
