Green

Grr posted in wrong place, too many topics :P

My favourite time of year Spring with all the new growth. Critique welcome. No PS apart from a resize, convert to jpeg and very slight USM on a couple of them

My own critique is:

1. Not too bad, although it might have been improved with slightly more DOF. The leaf in the top right also annoys me but that should be a fairly simple clone out. Composition is okay but not particularly special

2. I like the contrast here and the composition is fine, to my eye anyway. DOF is way too shallow and there's an annoying reflection from a spiders web top left.

3. This one's not too bad although it looks like there's possibly been too much USM. It was only about 60% at 1.3p so I'll probably run it through again.

4. My least favourite, a bit dull, the tops chopped off, although going lower brought some tree branches into the shot which I didn't want. Composition is only adequate

5. I like abstracts However there's nothing really catching the eye, nothing to concentrate on. Also the texture of the leaves looks a bit like noise. Best bit about it is the light and shadow.

I have moved the thread here as it includes mulitple photos, posted at once. You can still recieve general comments on your work from here but if you would like detailed critique and feedback you are welcomed to post any ONE photo in a new thread in the Critique and comments forum.

Hope that helps.

The good thing you have here on all the pictures is excellent light. This has really made a difference, in a couple of them it also has highlighted the edges of the leaves as well as making some of them semi-transparrent. This coupled with good use of dof has kept them all interesting.

I actually like picture 4 but would agree with you that its a shame the top of the reeds has been cut of. The last shot works as a semi abstract and again due to the lighting is an appealing picture.

ta folks, my sensitive sides not great tonight, spent it all trying to recover data from a disk that went south

These were compromise shots. I really wanted to get the swans and cygnets on the lake but they wouldn't come off their island and my puny 70-200 couldn't quite reach them. I need a mans' lens like the 100-400

Not so, it takes a man to be able to use the 70-200 and get great results, anyone with a big bank balance can buy a 100-400 but that doesn't automatically make them a great photographer

There is definately some issue here, first you should only be able to post a reply if logged in and second we don't allow guests either.

How long has it been like this for you dod and have you tried clearing your cookies?

Actually it should now be sorted, some muppet of an admin type bloke by the name of Steve had not set up the correct permissions for this forum when he created it recently :P I have now corrected my deliberate mistake  so normal business can resume.

Right from since I started coming here, I put a thread up about it a while ago.

Just did the same thing again with the log in, I went to reply to this and it asked me to log in again, even though I had already logged in via the front page (I think)

Cookies shouldn't be an issue as this is on a brand new lappie. XP home and FF 1.03

I get that sometimes on the S2000 Board. Have you tried setting the forums as your bookmark/favourite?

There is only one login on the site and thats at thetop of forums in the form of the flash login. The only other is the gallery login but thats not available as a direct option from anywhere with the site frame.

I know why you where able to login and post as a guest on this forum (my mistake) but your other issues are a little more baffling. I really dont know what to suggest?
