Grey Leaf modified
Modified as suggested by Dabhand16 in the critique forum
I should have explained. Dabhand16 said he could not see all the original post at one time on his lap top so I so I resized that for him and he also suggested the top was acting as a second focus and wondered if a cropped version would be better. Hence these two images. Any comments about which is the best. ![]() ![]() Last edited by AQ : 05-02-2008 at 15:05. Reason: Forgot to paste some text |

Re: Grey Leaf modified
Although I like the original, I do think that the cropped one really draws you into the picture. Almost like going into warp drive.

Re: Grey Leaf modified
I agree. I read the threads on the critique post and find the crop to really pull me in quickly. I like both as well, I can actually feel #2 pull my eye. Nice job.

Re: Grey Leaf modified
Thanks for the comments. Getting this sort of advice is the best part of these forums. I have just realised that a crop from also works reasonable well.

Re: Grey Leaf modified
With great respect to Charlotte's pimp as ordinarily I would have gone for more colour too, I have to say I prefer the original simply because it is NOT strong in colour. It relies on the lines to hold your attention and it does that beautifully by presenting a strong abstract which is almost a duotone shot. The crop most definitely helps, makes a big difference to the way the lines work.
I guess it's just that I've seen loads of shots of this type of leaf which are bright and strong colours but this one is much more subtle and gains its strength as a picture in a different way. Good work Anth. Cheers, Rob

Re: Grey Leaf modified
It is always interesting to see different version and it is something that I look forward to. The advice re cropping was very good.
On this ocassion I have to agree with Rob I prefer the original and that image was more or less straight out the the camera. The leaf really was that pale grey colour. |

Re: Grey Leaf modified
I can only see one image in the 1st post so not sure what the comparison was but I do like the way the lines of the leaf make me feeling as if I am spiralling/falling into the image. It really draw the eye in.
When I first opened it my IE window was minimised so I scrolled down to view the image seeing only part of the image at a time. Very effective! ![]() |
