High Key Help...
I been trying to get some high key images of the kids - but I am struggling...
I have tried shooting out side in sunlight but that didn't work... These were shot with... 1.) Camera on a tripod 2.) Aganst a bright white door 3.) Normal pop fash on the 30D. 4.) Shot in Raw format 5.) The kids were bribed into being models..... These are better but I am still not happy with them, the kids have very fair complexion which just seems to burn out when I up the exposure... Is it my skill level or do I need different equipment ? Does anybody know of a good tutorial web site/book I could look at ? ![]()

Re: High Key Help...
Thanks for comments - I have a very pale cream wall I might try against that, I did wonder if the kids were to close to the wall...
I will keep trying... |

Re: High Key Help...
Bearing in mind i'm no portrait photographer, I did have a go at editing the first shot for you. The advice and link MonkeyDave gave was good and the further you can get your subject away from the background the better. There does also appear to be a very strong Orange(y) cast.....Probably caused by interior lighting
A custom white balance would have helped OR adjusting the wb in raw. High key is gonna be very tough with only a pop-up flash but Photoshop can help although it certainly isn't a substitute.Anyway because of the colour balance problem....I edited for B/W. Basically just adjusting the white point in levels using the background then a little tweak with curves. ![]() It still has the shadow problem behind the girls side hair line....as mentioned this would be reduced the further from the background you can get your subject.
