Hiking in the Alps

I have not posted any photos for a while so I guess its about time I put my head in the firing line

These photos were shot at the weekend while we were hiking in the German Alps. We eventually made it to the top of the 'Fockenstein' standing 1564 meters tall. The total hike was just over 20k and took us the best part of 12 hours to complete.

All comments welcome as always

Re: Hiking in the Alps

Great set . Possibly the most amazing place I've ever been. Stopped in Grindlewald in the Swiss alps, right at the foot of the Eiger, a couple of years ago. Its hard to know where to point the camera, everywhere you turn is screaming out to be photographed!

Gorgeous! I'm just a tad jealous of the view from this side of the screen. Can only imagine what it looks like in person.

Thanks, it was actually quite warm as there was only a slight breeze on the day. Definitely T-shirt weather for most of the day

Processed in Lightroom, colour temperatures altered slightly to compensate for the 'blue haze' on the day. In Photoshop I also applied selective unsharp mask at large settings to scrub the haze some more and bring out the detail in the distant mountains. I also applied the obvious crops.

All these shots where captured using the 70-200L with a 1.4x teleconvertor on a 1.6 crop body...so the mountain scenes were actually less detailed to the naked eye but were mighty impressive in their vastness.

Thanks to everyone who has passed comment

Re: Hiking in the Alps

Magnificent scenes and would love to photograph something like this myself....although I wouldn't manage the 12 hour hike, on top of the fact I hate heights with a passion. The first is probably my favourite although they are all spectacular, though both 1&2 show signs of halo's here, with 2 more so.
Breathtaking views....and hike.
Ken.
