Re: Hillier Gardens
I like the first two Charlotte, the colours are great! But I think the crop is a bit tight at the top of that last one. Good first try though!

Re: Hillier Gardens
Thanks for your feedback Angela, much appreciated
![]() I don't generally get a chance to get out with my camera, but last Friday I dropped my little 'un off at pre-school, then dashed to my pre-selected site + enjoyed trying out my new gear Only had about 45 mins actual shooting time, but it was worth getting that little bit of practice in. Took quite a few, but these were my favourites. The last one is of course a crop of the 2nd one, just thought I'd try closing in a bit ... unfortunately it ended up so small because of file size + I opted to decrease size rather than quality, but I agree it doesn't show much at that size, + the figure is indeed too close to the LHS frame (in both).Although I'm quite pleased with these, they weren't as sharp as I'd hoped, but I'll try + get back there on a calmer day. And Graham, pills don't work with this kind of wind ... you were so busy being facetious, you forgot to leave a comment about my pic's ![]()

Re: Hillier Gardens
I had a longer look at these as the 'first impression' didn't do much but when I looked longer at all the different verticals and things it becamse clear you had thought carefully about the compositionb, particularly where you put the tree near the middle of the water. You have managed largely to stop all the lines clashing which is no easy feat so well done.
With regards macro shooting and winds, a handy hint for you: buy a reel of thin fishing line and keep it in your camera bag along with two plastic-covered paper clips. You can then clip one end to a nearby stronger point that is not moving, wrap the line a couple of times around the stalk of the flower you want to shoot and then clip to another point. This does no damage at all to the flower and is easily removed aftwards but works a treat and stops the flower swaying around yet doesn't give an obtrusive line as it is nigh on invisible. Anything that does show is easily cloned out. It won't work in strong wind but in a breeze it works fine. Cheers, Rob
