How I spent a few minutes this week

Wife has been obsessing about wanting a new tattoo for months but can never find something she wants. One night she's holding this necklace I bought her almost 10 years ago of a dragon made out of silver clutching a jade marble. Apparently the significance of this piece of jewelry is it is the first piece of jewelry I ever bought her...

Anyhow she was wishing she could get artwork made from that. I know enough tattoo-ers and tattoo-ees that I know any artist worth his salt can sketch from a photo. So out came the white posterboard card stock and my tripod.. had her hold two flashlights for me to get the scale details and such.. printed an 8x10 for the artist and the results are photo #2 here..

Happy wife. Wife isn't mad I spent the money on that 60mm Nikkor macro lens now... Happy me.. Tattoo artist guy wants me to do shots like this for him because he has it come up quite often so there may be extra camera toy money enroute.. we'll see..

the tattoo..

Re: How I spent a few minutes this week

You clearly found an excellent artist who has reproduced the object perfectly as a tattoo, and your photo is very well taken so I am certain you're going to have a successful partnership there taking pics of his other work for clients.

Good stuff,
Rob
