Impersonating a Photographer

Today was the first time that I have set aside an entire day in my young hobby to just shoot... on my own... no kids... no wife... no shopping... just me.

Things I learned:
* 25 KPH winds don't help
* People don't walk slowly enough for you to figure out camera settings
* Carry a monopod and everyone thinks you're a pro
* A novice can actually go in and out of their backpack 15 times to complete one photo
* When you bar hop your way through town taking photos, nature will call when you get the farthest away from a restroom.
* When you get to spend the day doing what your heart loves you're spitirually lifted regardless of the results.

Big snow storm on Monday. Snow shoes and untested techniques in my future. Thank you all for your continued input and advice.

Hey, Robbo - fun, isn't it?

You've got a nice enough shot here, plenty of interest throughout. I'd like to have seen a little more on the RHS to give the bigger boat more space. It is not always easy, but try to keep things like masts and flagpoles from going out of shot as this tends to lead the eye out of your picture.

Gotcha - The orginal shot has more RHS, but there is a lot of gear clutter. Leave the clutter you think?

Difficult to say without seeing. Clutter could add context if it was related to the boats.

Post the original and we can see.

Here is the original image and the LHS of the same boat in another image that is a shot that I like a lot more, but haven't done any post op on.

Re: Impersonating a Photographer

Thanks Joseph. I'm not good enough yet to be serious. If I don't laugh at myself, my family will beat me to it. We have 12" - 20" of snow falling right now, so when the shoveling is done I will be back at it. Noticed your location. I live just south of Manchester, Maine... a town that is the size of one of your city blocks.
