Are these with the Sigma zoom on Macro setting Ken?
There's nothing technically wrong with any of them, in fact I think you've done fantastically well without flash, which would have made all the difference. What sort of working distance do you get with the Sigma, can you press the pop-up flash into service or are you too close for that? No 3 is the best for me, and you can see what a difference the Sun on the wing tips has made compared to the rest of the butterfly which was in the shade. Your bee is looking a drab old thing and that's purely down to being in the shade. Your last shot of that little black critter shows what a difference the sun makes to pepping up your shots. ![]() There's a lot of noise showing Ken, and it's to be expected really as dark areas is exactly where noise manifests itself. If you were using a high ISO it just makes the noise problem worse. Don't forget either that if you sharpen a noisy image, you sharpen the noise too and make it far more pronounced. They're all commendably sharp, so there's nothing wrong with your technique, you just need to either wait for better light, or beg, borrow or otherwise acquire a flashgun. :FIcamerap |

Yeh the macro is on
not that stupid, well maybe . Plenty of room for flash I think, distance from the bee and fly thing are about 3-4ft, possibly 5ft away on the butterfly. ISO 400 but the noise doesn't bother me. The bee was in the shade, here's another same bee and flower but with the aid of the sun.![]() |

LOL! I didn't doubt macro was on Ken, I just wasn't sure what lens you were using. And look at the difference the sun makes in that bee shot in the sun! :icon_cool

I reallly would love to turn my macro on and start turning my hand to some shots like this, but I want to make sure I stop shaking while holding this lens first!....lol
