Re: The Ironbridge at Night
Shame the water wasn't still (is a river ever still enough?) but a good shot, nonetheless. Not sure about the reeds, bottom right. I'd prefer more but think not enough, so maybe clone out
Why the "marmite" bars border top and bottom? I think maybe there's too much black now - and be tempted to 'draw the curtains' on the top row houses (clone over a dark window) as they do tend to pull the eye |

Re: The Ironbridge at Night
I love the first one Steve, shame it has that greenish light in the middle but that could be cloned out easily enough... or not.... as you feel
![]() Love the reflection and the tone of the lighting, really lovely. Well done. Cheers, Rob |

Re: The Ironbridge at Night
Love the colour in the first one, really quite....I don't know, quite luxurious?.And nice composition.I too might disappear the reeds. But not the wisp of smoke from the chimney.Silly I know but I like that!!
Very nice shot. What exposure/aperture did that require?.

Re: The Ironbridge at Night
Thats a great job of cloning out the reeds, i might have a go myself at the weekend, get it printed a few times, set a stall up on the Ironbridge in the Summer and sell it to all the Japanese tourists

Re: The Ironbridge at Night
Good adjustment Joe, it is interesting to see it without the greenish light that i found awkward before. This is a lovely picture and i am sure some of those tourists would buy it, no trouble. I do the same thing when the red Arrows visit Bournemouth every summer, head on down with a few posters printed and flog them off.... planning to take a few more this year as they got snapped up straight away last time.
I went to Ironbridge Gorge and Coalbrookdale when I was at boarding school in Wolverhampton a LOT of years ago and it was a place I loved. Cheers for the memories, rob

Re: The Ironbridge at Night
It was 30 seconds @ f/5, ISO-100
@ Rob. It still is a gorgeous place to be (particularly in comparison to Wolverhampton!), especially if you can get off the main street which now seems to be filling with unoccupied shop fronts, sad really but trade there must be very seasonal. What size posters do you print and how much did you ask for them out of interest? |

Re: The Ironbridge at Night
LOL Steve, ANYWHERE is gorgeous in comparison to Wolverhampton! It truly is one of the ugliest cities in the UK. I was at the Royal Wolverhampton Boarding School and I always hated the fact we were never allowed out into the town centre but visiting the place as an adult I now realise they were doing us a favour!!!
I print my posters out at A3+ size (roughly 19" x 13") as I have the Canon i9950 printerwhich gives excellent results. I took some down to the Red Arrows display last time and flogged them off at a fiver a piece and they went almost instantly. I just showed one and people in the vicinity all just shouted 'I'll have one...' and wihin minutes they were gone! So this August I shall be taking a fair few more, maybe 50, as I honestly think I would have little trouble selling them all. Each poster costs me about £1.50 in total so I am perfectly happy selling them at that price and the people buying them know they are getting completely unique posters, not the mass produced ones on sale at other official stalls. I just have to avoid the local council as I guess selling them in the street might make me fall foul of public trading. I honestly think I could have defended that accusation last time as I never offered them for sale. I simply showed one, someone said they wanted one and so did the others! Hope you do manage to sell a few, it's a lovely image. Cheers, Rob |
