Re: Isolation
Hi Ray, thats actually not bad, it has an almost 3d feel to it. I would have preferred a more portrait image and I do not know how to get rid of the halo which isn't that bad to be honest.

Re: Isolation
Portrait is where the longest side is the vertical. As said, not a bad effort. My only crit is that the tree and sky have similar tonal quality and so the tree is a bit lost in the background.

Re: Isolation
I would crop the left side in,
,,it's just me. Don't really like the black clouds. As to removing the halo,,I guess your talking about the edges of your tree, "I am on a dumb computer". I can tell you that for this kind of edge enhancement I like the eraser, the smudge tool and just plain old masking. The smudge tool with the tree blown up can push pixels of like color togather and the eraser tool used with a light opacity and clean up edges,,all on a new layer of course,,,your picture looks like fun,, Good luck.Boofers ![]() |

Re: Isolation
Hi Ray, getting rid of the halo is much easier than a lot of people realise so here's how to do it.
~ Using the original .psd file so you have the tree on one layer and the sky on the other, select the layer with the tree. ~ Now, looking at the layer, hold down Ctrl and click on the ICON in the layer (that's the miniature picture of what is on that layer) ~ You now have the tree selected - see the marching ants around the tree! ~ Ok, now just go to Select > Modify > Contract and enter 1 pixel ~ The selection has now contracted and should be just inside the edge of the tree, with the blue halo on the outside of the selection! ~ Now press Ctrl+J to copy the tree to a new layer. This will copy the tree but not the halo so just delete the original tree layer and you've got a tree with no halo ![]() Hope you find that useful. It's a very handy technique for getting rid of haloes, fringing, etc. ![]() Cheers, Rob
