Jazz
I really wanted to post in critique, but these images are a matched pair. But please critique away.
Rose Max and her husband, Ramatis are pretty famous Brazilian musicians, bassa nova, samba, jazz, that sort of thing. I hope that I captured the intensity of their performance. Once again, these were taken with my little Panasonic, no flash. skip ![]() ![]() |

Re: Jazz
I like the second shot most as I love the look of concentration on the guitarist's face. The blurred strumming/picking hand is blurred giving a feeling of dynamisim as that hand does most of the active work in classical guitar so this all works together perfectly.
In the first shot, the motion blurring is somewhat less effective even though I know she could well be very active with this kind of music. It's just that the position she is in does not look dynamic so the movement of her left hand doesn't add to the feel in a way I would want. If she IS being very dynamic, I'd actually want even more blurring to really accentuate it. In her face, the chin is very soft but the rest of her face is fairly sharp. Not sure whether this works or not for me. Now, you did say that this is a matched pair and placed side by side and viewed as one picture, they blend together well so perhaps these two really do need to be a diptych to work to their full effect. Cheers, Rob
