Re: keira in mono..

Nice picture. And such beautiful eyes. Doing this with a light background makes those eyes stand out.

Some may say the background needs to be darker to make her stand out more. I feel with the lighting you used it brings the eyes to the forefront which I think makes this picture stand out so well.

Re: keira in mono..

Dave - this is an excellent portrait that works well in colour and mono. The only slight flaw in the colour version is that it does look very 'cut out' where the mono is more natural.

You must be very pleased with this one.

Re: keira in mono..

Love the mono, the eyes really stand out. Just be tempted to crop bit off the top. Wait until she's a teenager, then you almost have to force them to pose!

Re: keira in mono..

i prefer the colour version, but i think thats just down to the mono processing, i feel its very bland and doesnt have the full tonal range needed to get a good hi key image. i havent checked but it doesnt look like you have a true black in it, which would really make it punchier and less washed out looking.

Re: keira in mono..

I prefer the softness of the first one. Maybe a tiny bit more contrast, but not as much as your 2nd mono version. Just noticed the dark circles under her eyes (accentuated by your 2nd darker version), which could do with toning down a bit.

Re: keira in mono..

like the Mono
although i think i prefer the photo's of children in colour
Mono seems to hide any blemishes or wrinkles easier than colour, if you know what
