Key West Color

These shots were taken in late December in Key West Florida. They probably present better as a group than individually so I'll post them here rather than in the Critique Forum.

Nice set, They are all bright and colourful, a benefit of the Florida sun no doubt.

What a nice set. I think you are right in saying they present better together. Even #5 is in context now!!

They certainly represent Florida well, and bring back memories of my last visit, sadly a long time ago, now.

Thanks for posting.

Re: Key West Color

I think the bright, earth colours as in pics 2 & 3 are probably a reflection of the large Hispanic population of Florida though Skip is the one to confirm or deny that idea. I am just guessing really, partly based on the fact that whenever I have been to Florida the number of people speaking Spanish has often outnumbered the English speakers.

These colours very much remind me of Mexico where they love to use these naturally found earthen colours for painting and so forth. I think they're beautiful and I think this set of pics works very nicely indeed. You're definitely right to show them as the set rather than as individual shots. For me the weakest shot is the blue shutter as it feels like I should be seeing both, not one. But that is just from my viewpoint, others might disagree.

All in all a very good reflection of Key West, well done

My wife and I had been thinking about a trip to Southern Florida next year but we've changed our minds because we both want to head out East for a change. So, will it be China or Japan? Favourite is the latter as it is number one on my list of countries to visit and also I can visit Korea at the same time.... I know enough people there and in Japan to stay in a different house every night for 6 months! But China is also intriguing so who knows, my mind will no doubt change again and again before we finally go for it

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Key West Color

Nice set, and I agree that it works as a set very well.

The colors probably represent a mixture of hispanic and caribbean influence.

Yup, a lot of hispanic immigrants over the last 1/2 century, and while some people are upset about it, I just feel that it enriches our culture.
