Kids Portraits in B+W

Took these on Saturday while the kids were playing in the sand pit at Sheerness - I overexposed them on purpose - so I could convert them to black and white - I was tring to achive the wash out look....

Not sure about them what do you think...do they work or not ?

C+C welcome...

This second could be cropped a bit - but not sure where to start...

This one is burnt out where the sun hit my sons face..

If you are after a hi-key effect, I think you are better off doing it in controlled conditions with a plain background. Many people use a white BG for hi-key.

As you have said there are some areas that are burnt out, but there remains enough other detail to make it look as though it is just another over-exposed photo.

The kids look a bit 'pressed' into being models too!

Have you seen KenCo's excellent hi-key pics in page 3 of his gallery?

The kids are my best models lol - Daddy without his camera would just be plain weird from them....
