Re: Knowsley Safaripark
Hi Dutchie, they are nice shots, but......and I tread warily here.......they need something to lift them from the usual animal shots. A different angle like in #3 makes all the difference, close-ups, odd behaviour and such. Also, I notice you were shooting at a focal length of 180mm yet your shutter speed was 1/80. For really sharp images you should have used at least 1/180 and if necessary up the ISO to get it. HTH. I'll get my coat now

Re: Knowsley Safaripark
Thanks Stepheno. I'm struggling a bit with the shutterspeed. So your comment is very usefull. I will set the iso again to 400 and see how that goes.
The last one was the best for me as it was a bit different. I can see where your coming from. |

Re: Knowsley Safaripark
I agree with the comments. I notice in the EXIF it says you were using manual mode. Credit to you for trying that out, but for things like this, where you are constantly changing focal length and subject, it might be worth using Aperture priority (A) mode, as it means you have control over your DOF, but the camera will always try and give you the fastest shutter speed possible, so there's no chance of you forgetting to change it!
Of course for specialist shots, or ones where the camera meter isn't going to be effective then by all means shoot manual, but just a thing to think about. Others might disagree.
