Re: at last a heron

#1 is just a pic of a heron like any other, #2 is just perfect - the decidedly strange appearance frozen like that captures the gangly, shouldn't really be flightworthy bizarreness of heron. Good stuff

Re: at last a heron

I like these both very much. Sorry but No 1 is definitely not just a 'heron shot like any other'.... I have seen loads of heron photos that don't get anything like the clarity and sharpness into them as you have here. The fixed stare out into the space is powerful and that cannot be said of all heron photos. The second one is excellent and very unusual. You just know this guy is going to be eating dinner in a minute from now :o)

Good work Monkey

Re: at last a heron

I read _MB_'s comment to mean that the first shot shows the classic pose of a heron (as in the most common pose in heron shots) + he used this reference to emphasise his compliment on the unique pose in the 2nd shot; I don't believe he meant that he was unimpressed by the 1st shot

Monkeydave: I'm posting again because I just have to ask---what camera and lens did you use for this shot. I looked at some of your other pictures and I'm really interested as I love to take bird pictures. I notice you don't have any of your camera gear listed.
