Loch Eck
Shot this one yesterday not long after the sun had dipped below the far away hill.
Very tranquil spot. I must go back for some early morning shots. ![]() |

That's a great shot - it a pity about the overhanging branches at the top-left, though. Maybe take a hacksaw next time?

I like that one as well and agree with dod about the branches, they help frame the picture.
![]() It looks peacefull and very tranquil there. |

Strangely I find the pink fluffy cloud behind the branches a bit distracting.
I think that maybe its too colourful for the rest of the tranquil image. But this is just my opinion! ![]() PS. It's still a top photo! |

Well, I don't know what to say. Apart from thanks. Thanks to all for the nice comments. GfK, I know what you mean. Some see the branches as a distraction while others think it helps to frame the image. For me the hacksaw stays in the bag. SammyC. The more I look at that cloud the more I agree with you. I hate cloning unless it's necessary. I think it's necessary. Thanks |

Great pic - amazing reflection, if I'd posted before your commentary I would probably have asked if it was real

I know what you mean. The right hand reflected hill is not as clearly defined as the left. The Loch wasn't perfectly flat calm. There was just the slightest of ripples in that area and an exposure of 0.4s probably adds to the effect. I bracketed few shots and they're all the same. Personally, I'll clone small detail if I have to but I would never add a reflection or a sky for that matter. But that's just me. ![]() |

would love that as a print, and also a pano with more to the right, would be stunning

As already said above that shot is fantastic.
I personally don't think the branches are a problem too much, but since SammyC mentioned about the cloud i am finding that distracting. |

I reworked the image a little. Always get good info here. I don't want to clone it out altogether since it's reflection is to the right of the dark stone. ( Plus reasons I gave earlier ) I left the reflected image of the cloud dark since reflections on water should be a stop or so darker anyway. Any better ? ![]() |

The difference is subtle but the overall impression has definately improved. I also think you did the right thing by not completely removing the cloud.
