hi ven
top one look slightly out of focus to me, second one, too much area around lock handles, distracting and taking away from the shot, 3rd really good, but would like to have seen it closer in.

3rd one i reckon is the best! Maybe a little lower on the 1st to get some horizon in would be good. Was it just being closed/opened or do they all leak like that? (first one)

Thanks Stev - was playing with the loan 18-200 Tampon I spoke about earlier ! Points taken though - I think they could all have been better as you suggest. Will check the originals though 'cos being oof is unforgivable with an autofocus ... ain't it ?

And thanks too lolyton - horizon would have meant going quite a bit higher, loadsa trees up front so decided to do without ... and yes, most of the locks 'leak like that' - these were closed already but the amount of water on the other side is never going to be equalized by such an insignificant leak !

Thanks both for looking and commenting !

Hmmm - you could be right Stev - seem to remember I might have been in 'A' mode for some reason !

What did you think of my shots of the Transporter bridge ?

I would be interested to know what PP has been applied to these shots dude?

Only reason I ask is that they all seem a little on the soft side and lacking in contrast. A quick fiddle with levels etc would alleviate some of the flatness caused by the flat light from overcast skies and make them a bit more punchy. I would also be tempted to crop the last one a bit closer.

Point took Ghandi - really grey, overcast day. PP pretty much left it to 'auto enhance' in Essentials is all ! V. lazy I know but it was one of those tuit jobbies !

Plenty of scope to improve though as taken in NEF - time is all I need !

First one is composed well, i don't know where you focused, i'm assuming it was bang centre of the top of the lock. Soft look could be down to the aperture, but there's no exif detail (i've looked) so i can't tell.
