Great set, especially #2 which is stunning; pity you just clipped his wing off.

Re: Macro Bugs

Every one a winner there Mark, beautiful set of shots. Just goes to show how damn ugly flies are compared to such creatures as damsel flies and dragonflies. Superb stuff, well done.

Re: Macro Bugs

Great shots, #1 is excellent and I really like #5 because as well as being a good shot it shows some interesting behaviour.

#2 and #3 could do with the focus being better around the eyes, but this is a difficult subject and these are really nice shots.

I just wish I'd had chance to get and and do some this year but I either seem to be at work, running after the kids or it's raining too much and the bugs are hiding.

cheers

Dan

Re: Macro Bugs

Many thanks, everyone! Appreciate you taking the time to comment!

"Deliberately" clipped the wing, Charlotte, as I wanted a closer shot than can be fitted into viewfinder (and I rarely crop into a shot - don't like to waste pixels! ). Got plenty of full on, full size - wanted a change from the usual, classic pose

Yeah, always fighting for more DOF, Dan! Would be nice if Sigma could bring out a stabilised macro - those extra 2 stops would make all the difference

Re: Macro Bugs

Cheers, guys! Glad you liked 'em........ however disgusting!

First three were taken at an RSPB site (tho arguably anywhere where there's water and some reeds will give you dragons and damsels at this time of year) - garden is too far from the river at the bottom of the hill (tho dragons are said to travel up to 2 miles from water to get their meal!). Last two were in the garden.
