Macro Day

Light was fairly flat, so went out at lunchtime to see what macroes I could get, despite it being fairly windy

Purple Primula

Sigma SD10, Sigma 105mm macro, f/22, 1/3, ISO100, tripod

Lousy Wood
Woodlouse in tree bark

Sigma SD10, Sigma 105mm macro, f/11, 1/2, ISO100, tripod

Oxslip
Relatively uncommon oxslip, very similar to the cowslip

Sigma SD10, Sigma 105mm macro, f/25, 1/13, ISO100, tripod

Ex Snail
Empty snail shell

Sigma SD10, Sigma 105mm macro, f/2.8, 1/250, ISO100, tripod

Cracked Crocus
Usually I don't alter my subject prior to shooting. On this occasion I broke off the three petals nearest to the camera to reveal the stamen

Sigma SD10, Sigma 105mm macro, f/10, 1/15, ISO100, tripod

All comments gratefully received!

Re: Macro Day

Macroes, are they like Cod Roes?

The snail is clearly more interesting than the others (In My Humble Opinion)

Well, we're all entitled to an opinion, however humble! And I appreciate the comment!

Re: Macro Day

I like those, Mark - you've captured the colours well without blowing anything.

I'm assuming you used flash for the background to be dark in #1 and #3???

Cheers, Silky!

Flash? Perish the thought! Never use flash on plants

Re: Macro Day

In that case you've done even better to isolate the subject.

And I thought you'd found the perfect macro light for plants.....

Re: Macro Day

Enjoy every one of these. Our primula are still a few weeks away. But it won't be long.

Is this to be regarded as a Scottish truism? If so we have several corollaries here, but I shan't quote them for she's beginning to have an interest here.

Re: Macro Day

Mark, I'm shocked, defacing flowers - what next!

My favourite is the snail shell, I really like the blues and the flaking. Purple Primula is pretty and the cowslip, in fact the colour is nice in all of them.

Thanks for posting

I know!
Next? Well, it can't be moving away from THE best camera system as these were taken with my Sigma (although I'm progressing to the Dark Side with Canon!)
