Re: Macro-photography: example shots and general discussion
Chris, whatever that is on your BG, it isn't noise! It is far too regular to be noise. It almost looks like a print that has been scanned in. However it could be that you have interpolated a smaller picture up to the size here which has caused these lines to appear. You could get rid of them quite easily.
Just do a selection of the BG area, copy to a new layer and apply a small Gaussian Blur to it. You should get something like the result below. Cheers, Rob ![]()

Re: Macro-photography: example shots and general discussion
Thanks for the tip Rob. I will use that in future on the background.
It is not a scanned image it is a converted RAW file at 300dpi (There's no interpolation at all, and you can see the lines in the RAW converter). All I did to it was resize for the web ( ie I shrunk it). Marcin Nice shot of the butterfly, although the small DOF (maybe it is you lens ?) means some of the body looks out of focus. |

Re: Macro-photography: example shots and general discussion
chrisa i know. max DOF in my camera is f11 (sic!!!). that's the main reason i need DSLR camera.
another try with same butterflie - the only thing i could do is to try another composition. 7. Nymphalis urticae ![]() |

The standard of shots you are getting with the Fuji blows away lots of DSLR macros I have seen. |

I have no experience at all. But Dave your right. Wowie, these shots are absolutely beautifull. I haven't seen many like these come past my screen.

Re: Macro-photography: example shots and general discussion
chrisa it's really nice photo. small DOF in this case is not a problem, gives it that arthistic feeling. colours are nice and soft. to be honest i like this photo because this flower looks like some animal claws, and it's just a flower.
i'm planning a trip to botanical garden in London. |

Re: Macro-photography: example shots and general discussion
Macrin Glad you like the shot, I also like the small DOF on this, I had taken at more but like this one best.
I would imagine the garden trip could yield some great opportunitys, not something I'd thought about till now. |
