Re: Dorset macrophotography

Very nice shots. Like the detail in the damsel fly and the reflected image in the second. I tried the reflection type shot last year but not got the detail like you have, waiting to try again this year.

Where abouts do you go near Sturminster Newton to see the insects ? Is it a nature reserve ?

Re: Dorset macrophotography

I'm glad you like those photos. So question - why not to make this topic a biggest with macrophotography here? What you say? Don't be shy and join me here with your photos. Maybe not necessery dorset macro but generally macro. I was already looking for something like that here on this forum and there is nothing.

Idea is simple - we could all show our macro here with hope to learn something from others. I'll help with all i know about it.
Even if I'll stop posting because of some reason - you could continiue.
Other forum was my one and only source of knowledge about macro. This forum looks quite young so it's time to start helping each other.

And yes - english is not my native language so if you'll see some mistakes, well let me know, or just ignore them.

Re: Dorset macrophotography

Lovely work here Marcin, I am also a Dorsetite, I am in Poole. I am also an English teacher but don't worry, i am not going to correct your English. I am not sure where you are from but I am guessing somewhere in Eastern Europe like Poland and I can only say your English is far better than my Polish!

As for the macro shots idea, there is a Macro gallery already so best we put them over there (and on here of course). Here's a link to help you find them:
Macro Photography - Pixalo Photo Gallery

Lovely shots here and I know the area around White Bridge and Mill very well. I have a few shots of the bridge and I agree that the dragonflies and damselflies are in abundance there, a lovely area to get shots.

If you would like to see a couple of my macro shots, I have some in my Personal gallery (just click the button under my name on the left of this posting or for anyone else).

Welcome to Pixalo, it's a wonderful forum and I am sure you are going to enjoy it very much.

Best wishes,
Rob

ps You have some lovely shots on your website too

Re: Dorset macrophotography

Rob Barron i know that we have macro gallery but just take a look again - most of those photos are without any comments. my idea is to start posting our macro here so we could comment and learn from each other. i could give you address for polish (yes i'm from poland) forum where macro topic has 18209 posts (sic!). all my knowledge is from there. there are to ways to learn - you could buy a book, and learn from your mistakes, or you could show your shots to people, they'll tell you what they like and what could be done better. but of course it was just my suggestion. i'm not insisting .
and i saw your portfolio here on pixalo - impressive.

and another macro

Re: Dorset macrophotography

That is an absolute beauty Marcin, to be honest you're achieving results with that Fuji and Raynox combination that knock spots off my dSLR and macro lens. I really must try harder <g>

Yup, I know what you mean about the comments. I think we just need a reminder, which you have timely provided, that comments are useful when we put shots in our gallery so that people have a better idea of what we did to achieve the shot, equipment used, EXIF data and so forth.

So thanks for the reminder, I must make more effort on that front personally speaking and I am sure others will get the hint too

Cheers,
Rob
