March for Greyhounds

On Saturday I joined about 200 other like-minded people and marched through central London to try and highlight the plight of many racing greyhounds. The march was organised following the revelations in the Sunday Times some months ago of the death of thousands of greyhounds at the hands of one man (and I use that term loosely) in Seaham, Co. Durham.

The aim of the photographs was to try and capture the feel of being there and what people were trying to get over. Compositionally, perhaps these photographs aren't great, but I hope I've achieved what it was I set out to do.

Annette Crosbie, a keen supporter of greyhound welfare, and one of the speakers at the rally at Speaker's Corner

And what we're all about

Comments and critique welcome as usual!

Particularly like the last placard "You bet their lives are in your hands". Expression and composition work well (OK, burn back the half face in upper right)

And the last shot, of course! Peeping around the owner's legs - and with that light!

Yup! Conveys the sentiment. Hope that notice has been taken!

Re: March for Greyhounds

As others have said really captured the spirit of this, excellent bit of photojournalism. I especially like 2,3 and 4.

I wouldn't want to cross the lady in 5, she looks pretty serious about the cause.

Re: March for Greyhounds

Shots tell a story, so they worked perfectly. The last shot is very powerful for me, as all the above have set the scene & then we have this innocent defenceless looking dog , that is half hiding behind the owner for security

Re: March for Greyhounds

Powerul story. Has been circulating in the States for several years, but I am not sure about the result. There are a lot of people who are adopting racing greyhounds at the end of their career. That at least, is something.

I particularly like the monos, and as everyone has said the last image is the keystone to the story.
