Memories of Argyll & Mull
Motivated by water's pic taken from the Oban-Craignure Ferry, here are some taken last May about 20 miles south of Oban.
You may remember this from the TV series 'Parahandy'. It's now looks a bit dilapidated moored at Crinan... ![]() But nothing that a lick of paint won't fix... ![]() Hmm... There seem to be two Vital Sparks. And this is also at Inveraray - the 'Waverley' - our last remaining paddle steamer...![]() Is there something odd about that shot? Here's a robin at Arduaine Gardens... ![]() This is one of my favourite places on the planet - Dervaig on the Isle of Mull - taken in 2006... ![]() And another... ![]() Finally, Balamory (aka Tobermory, on Mull)...

Re: Memories of Argyll & Mull
Lovely set Silks
The Waverley looks like it should be moving to the left but is patently moving to the right!

Re: Memories of Argyll & Mull
The Waverley, my mum and dad used to take regular trips on that.
An interesting set of pictures by the way. Not a bee in sight! |

Re: Memories of Argyll & Mull
My parents visited the Isle of Mull last year and were rather taken with it
![]() My favourites from this set are Nos 5 and 6 - especially No.6 very atmospheric. |

Re: Memories of Argyll & Mull
"Para Handy Tales",one of my very favourite books
.I believe Neil Munro was born in Inverary too.Anyway, nice pics and the mono of the Vital Spark hits the spot and funnily enough every shot I have of the Waverley it is going astern which does look odd in a still photo. As you are a Mull 'fan' I don't need to tell you of the amount of cruises available from Oban to many of the Islands and the trip to Staffa is a must [I've done it 3 times].A great area to holiday in and hope you have many more good times there.John.

Re: Memories of Argyll & Mull
I really like No. 1. The sepia toning adds to the feeling of decay about it and the ships name makes it all the more poignant.
Agree with you about Mull - a wonderful place. |

Re: Memories of Argyll & Mull
As John says, one of the 'must do' things (weather permitting
) is a trip from Mull to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles.Fingal's cave on Staffa ![]() ![]() Puffins on the Isle of Lunga. You don't need a long telephoto lens - they'll let you get within a few feet. ![]() ![]() ![]()
