I took this quick snap of me the other day just taken with my coolpix. It actually wasn't a bad shot so I want to keep it,lol what I want to know is, how do I get rid of that HUGE freckle on my cheek?lol I'm STILL not very good @ photoshop, just know the basics. What tool is it I would use and how do I go about it? I'm using elements 3.0

Hey, Jewel - I think you ought to spend more time in front of the camera!

How is this?

I used the clone tool with the opacity set to between 100% for the initial work from the LHS and then lowering it to around 37% to bring back the slight line under your eye working from the RHS. Brush size can be changed with the [ and ] keys. Also set the brush to be quite soft edged.

If you do it one step at a time, if you go wrong you can undo the last step with ctrl+Z. It also helps if you englarge the image quite a lot. I forgot to note how much I magnified it though!

I would also do it on a new layer so in the event of a total disaster, you can delete the layer and start over.

Freckles can be removed with the spot healing brush (your RHS of top lip, LHS as viewed), but the one on your cheek is a bit too big for this tool and the clone tool is best.

If you dup a layer first then have a play with these tools you can get a feel for how they work, and then you can ditch the practice layer and do it for real on a new layer.

I actually prefer the original (sorry Graham!) as I don't think her face needs any work at all, it's lovely! I can get away with saying that because (a) she lives 3,000 miles away, (b) I'm a creep and (c) my wife is in the other room so isn't going to see it

Oh and (D) I'm an ugfy fat bloke anyway so it makes no odds.

Lovely shot Jewel, excellently done for a self-portrait. I'd love to take a portrait of myself but in order to make me look good my camera would have to lie so much it would get indicted!
