Re: Mono male model

I did give some feedback in the gallery on this one Mule - I Think this is one of the best images you have done. I'd consider cloning in the light bit of the background on the LHS from his shoulder to the top of the image to make it black as the rest of the BG is.

I like the lighting and the composition and the exposure is so nearly just right, only the slight blowing out of the headwear needing a touch of burning in.

Well done.

Re: Mono male model

Hi mule667. Whilst I think the lighting is quite effective, there's too much black BG visible. This makes the image unbalanced, so that I can see more of the (solid colour) BG than I can of your subject ... and I don't understand the crop, i.e. why you chose to crop out the left side of his body The focus is too soft IMO, his eyes should be in sharp focus (first rule of portraiture).

An interesting image, but it doesn't really work for me (sorry).

Re: Mono male model

Edgy, evocative, effective.

A bit soft, but I like it.

Re: Mono male model

I do realize the focus is a bit too soft, partly because my knoledge on black & white exposures are limited when it comes to a film camera, and then I had to scan the image in with our normal PC scanner through which I lost quite a bit of sharpness. Thanx for the comments
