Cool idea for a shot. Is it just me, or is there a black box around the moon?

Cool idea.

I might have favoured just putting the moon to the left........I can clearly see the black box too.

Re: Moon over Ely Octagon

Like the others have said, its a good shot but with you moving the moon lower down into the frame the square that surrounds it has a darker (black) background than the blue where you have placed it. To correct this easily, when in 'shop go to levels and then select the black eye dropper tool and click on the blue sky right next to the outside of the black box that you pasted in, this will then alter all the colours of the picture relative to that point, ensuring it is black there and matched across the whole photo.

Also as P-E has mentioned, positioning the moon more to the left side would also offer a more balanced shot as it would offset the tower on the building.

Hope that helps

Re: Moon over Ely Octagon

Multiple exposures of about 2sec overlaid the image of the cathedral and the first firework. Rough selection of the burst and then the new layer each time as "lighten" did the trick. It at one time had the moon in as well - ut it cluttered it up.

Re: Moon over Ely Octagon

Now sorted - different pair of exposures - at full 300 = 1.5 converter for both.

Re: Moon over Ely Octagon

Much better, although to make it perfect do you think the moon has to be muted slightly & a very slight Gaussian blur to it, to fit in with rest of shot ? Not sure, what do you / others think ?
