Morar

Another one of the very few half decent photos I took up in the Mallaig area.I set out on Monday believing the forecast of good weather all week!! .I jumped on the ferry to visit the Small Isles, landed on Canna and could not see more than 50yards for mist .The boat was sounding its foghorn for a good part of the journey!.Ach well,it is Scotland after all. This was taken on Thursday when the weather did improve,my last day before travelling home by bus on Friday AM.

Re: Morar

beautiful shot John, although the sand is a bit burnt out , a hard one to expose for knowing as i know the sands are almost white on some of those beaches.

the boat as a focal point really makes this image.!

Re: Morar

No, not burnt out ...

Dodged clouds + boat; burned sand + rocks, blue sky + trees.

....but not as accurate as to how the "White sands of Morar" look in reality!! .After seeing Charlottes 'pimp' I will probably tone down the sand a bit to add some 'detail' but this ain't sand coloured sand we are dealing with here .In this shot you can see where the sand whitens as the tide goes out and it dries

Yes, my editing skills are still developing ... was just trying to show that the sand is not featureless

Your 'pimp' is ok Charlotte, just a bit dark for how 'I' saw [and see] these particular beaches.Don't know if you have seen these West Coast/Hebridean beaches but they really are near white when the sun is out.

Fiona,I did use a polariser but obviously I am seeing/preferring a lighter sand than you and Charlotte

Re: Morar

Wasn't being defensive, water, I realised I'd overdone it when I saw the hue of the sand start to change, but I didn't want to spend all week on it so left it like that 'cos it did bring out the texture, which is what I was after No, I haven't seen those beaches, but by the look of your pic's I sure would like to ... maybe one day
