More "Gardening"

More shots from the garden, mainly taken today

#1 Feed Me....... NOW!
A Great Tit fledgling, like all kids, demands instant feeding!

Canon 350D, 300mm f/4 IS, f/4, 1/250, ISO400, tripod

#2 Mrs Squeak
No sign of Mr Squeak but Mrs Squeak puts in an appearance from time to time

Canon 350D, 300mm f/4 IS, f/4, 1/30, ISO200, tripod

#3 Refreshing Drink
A juvenile Nuthatch quenches it's thirst

Canon 350D, 300mm f/4 IS, f/5.6, 1/125, ISO100, tripod

#4 Confronting
This Dunnock's a regular visitor, cleaning up at ground level (and scaring Mrs Squeak!)

Canon 350D, 300mm f/4 IS, f/4, 1/10, ISO100, tripod

#5 Side View
A more classic pose for the Dunnock

Canon 350D, 300mm f/4 IS, f/5.6, 1/60, ISO100, tripod

Comments good, bad or indifferent - all very welcome!

Home on a fairly miserable day too - cloud and rain. I've the camera set up in the porch, leave the door open and as I pass to make myself coffee take the odd pic or two!

Re: More "Gardening"

Sorry to be late on this Mark, but they're all up to your usual high standard and I particularly like #5 as a composition, although Mrs Squeak wins in the cuteness stakes.

One day you must tell me how you tell which sex a mouse is. OK, maybe that's a family matter.

Re: More "Gardening"

Late? I hardly think so but thanks for the comment

Ahh, whether it be Mr or Mrs there's the question! All came about as I assumed that there being two, they'd be a couple (so Mrs Squeak as I already had Mr Squeak). Then it looked as if they lived in seperate homes (divorced? ).

Fairly recently "Mrs" Squeak launched "herself" at Mr Squeak (they both then fell 2 feet off a wall, so was a vicious attack!). Now there is the possible argument that this behaviour proves that she is female but I couldn't possibly comment(!), so I'd maybe suggest thery might both be male.

Since Mr Squeak was fair old battered (scratches, chewed ear) and has since disappeared (not seen him for a few weeks now), I'd surmise he was an old(ish) male and may no longer be with us

Re: More "Gardening"

This could be a modern sequel to 'Tales of the Riverbank', and definitely more interesting than Eastenders.

Anyway, notwithstanding my lack of ability, I have absolutely no chance of photographing any birds or furry creatures in our garden. I've tried - believe me I have. There they are - finches, sparrows, blackbirds galore... so I grab the camera and sneak out. Then I hear the cat-flap - once... twice... thrice... (so it must be true), and I have the cat family checking up on what I'm up to.

I garden the same way. I keep track of things for my wife. Really good bunch, but the fledgling is quite fine.

Anything is more interesting than Eastenders!

Oh! I'll post my frog pics from a "kitty rich" household (6 cats)
