More Graffiti

This is the one that came second in my collection of two pictures that were eligible for the Graffiti fortnightly assignment. Did I make the right choice?

Re: More Graffiti

On looking again at the other one Graham, I'd said no, you should've entered this one! But one question: what language is it in I can't read any of it, except one word "Danger"

IMHO your other shot has too many distracting elements, like the FG bits of grass + the part-windows. I appreciate that these lend themselves to illustrating the environment surrounding the graffiti, but I find them distracting nontheless. Perhaps a different composition, viewpoint or crop would have tied them all together better

It looks quite a difficult subject to shoot, + I've never tried shooting graffiti, so I can't say from experience how you could've improved the shot It could be that you did the best that anyone could with your subject

Anyway, you got 2 votes, so well done ... 2 people thought it was the best one entered, so that's gotta say sump'n

Re: More Graffiti

Thanks for that, Charlotte Funnily enough, the other one got to be entered becuse I though this one lacked a bit of environmental context!

Both are from the same site, and I was severely retricted in what angles etc I could get as I had to poke my lens through a chain link fence in the places that had nothing on the inside that obscured the view.

As far as the language goes, maybe Rob Barron can translate - it is on his doorstep!

Re: More Graffiti

I had a mile of flood wall all to my self and it's painted pretty much the whole way. Which one to choose,,you did good,,I do wish more people would vote though. It would help people who have more then one shot know better how it is recieved. I have some left overs in photosharing and people are helpping me tone down the colors as I can't seem to stop them from glowing. I enjoyed this round.

Re: More Graffiti

I like both and think you made the right decision to enter the one that you did imo.

Re: More Graffiti

I wouldn't agree with Charlotte here (sorry ), I think that all those elements help to add to a sense of swordedness (for want of a better word), which I find excellent. Also, I don't think the other elements distract too much, because the colour in the graffiti is so punchy that it immediately draws your eye from anything else.
Noyce!

Thanks for the nice comments, but you don't have to go to these lengths Jack!

Disagreeing with Charlotte is way above and beyond the call of duty.

It's been nice knowing you..........
