Re: More from Marwell
Number one for me,
I wish I was as into photography when we lived near Marwell as I am now, missed a great opportunity there. |

Re: More from Marwell
The tiger in 2 is looking hungry and the animal in 3 is looking worried. Is that just a coincidence.
I feel that the crop in 1 is too tight at the top. I would have liked to see more of the tigers head. |

Re: More from Marwell
LOL Anth, unless this tiger has an unbelievably split personality I think it must be coincidence.... it's the same tiger
![]() I do agree that the first tiger is slightly tighter than I would normally want in terms of a crop. But the thing that makes me like this picture is that I think it conveys more of 'a moment' rather than simply a portrait of a tiger, ie cooling himself in the water and seemingly oblivious to everything else around him. That is what it did to me when I looked at it anyway, not sure if that comes across to others the same way. The second one has a look that has more purposeful intent, almost like when stalking (though the head would be a touch lower in that case so I was quite safe ) and we get more od the detail of the markings. I have no idea why I like the third one. I thought it was a bongo but not sure it is now when I think about it, no doubt someone knowledgeable on here will soon put me right.... please ![]() Those are my thoughts on them that I was too tired to type last night when I put the pics up. Maybe they help, be interested to see if they do the same or different to others. Cheers, Rob

No 2
I'm not 100% sure what No3 is, but it's not a Bongo... My first thought was that it's a goat of somesort but wonder if it's a bit more exotic than a goat! A Bongo is orangey brown with black around the nose/mouth. They have big horns and white stripes. (link to Marwell Zoo site - Bongo's are bottom right) |

Re: More from Marwell
Great shots Rob! Nice colour control for the orange too, it can be a b*gger sometimes... Were you shooting through bars? I think I might be able to see some evidence of the on the first two, but it isn't that bother-worthy

Re: More from Marwell
That is one intent stare in the second shot! I like the first one too, it does just capture a relaxed moment.

Re: More from Marwell
Thanks all for the comments, not sure about the beard thing but if you think I am gonna go and tell him he needs a shave Steve you can think again
![]() Well the 3rd one is definitely not a bongo but I have just been through the encyclopaedia of animals at Marwell and it isn't there at all so maybe this one immigrated through a whole in the fence <g> Jack, I was shooting through a fence, not bars, but the lens fitted through so don't think you would see any of it, other than the blurred out BG which probably has the fence on the other side. Must be honest though and say I am rather glad there was a fence between me and him I agree about the light area on side of face, I thought about burning it down slightly but I usually find it leaves it looking muddy so left it.I might have a couple more to sort out yet but I have a load of other animals to process and show next.... by the names of Leon, Rhydian, Alyssia and others.... from the X Factor <g> Gonna bore you all with shots of those next ![]() Cheers guys n gals, Rob |
