More Mid Wales shots
Was in Mid Wales last weekend and caught some great weather (frosts and sun!). Here's a fairly diverse sample:
Early Morning Sun Liked the sun creeping over the hill and lighting up the sheep - as well as the mist on the background hills ![]() Frosted Gate Liked the frost on this gate - seemed a good candidate to B/W with those textures. My macro back in action! ![]() Mid Morning Sun Another of the sun and frost. Realise there's no subject, as such, but like shots that make you look around! ![]() Sheep and Wind Turbines Do love the sight of wind turbines in the landscape (but still haven't visited any close up!) ![]() Tree on a Hillside ![]() The Chapel Cemetary Loved the ordered rank of headstones. Not sure about the saturation on this - too much? ![]() The Boathouse Was a lovely still day and got loads shots of the reflections ![]() All comments/suggestions good, bad or indifferent gratefully received

Re: More Mid Wales shots
Nice photo's, love the 1st, 3rd and last shot and the macro of the ice is cool too.
where in wales is this?, im planning on visiting this summer on the odd weekend and would like nice areas to visit (i'd love to live in an area like this, so nice on the eye...not like the built up area i live in where there is nothing but houses for miles), also if you have suggestions on other areas that are nice to take your camera in wales i would be greatful...ill put them on the places to visit list im planning on making ive been told Snowdon is one of the best places to go.cheers anyway and again nice set of pics

Re: More Mid Wales shots
Cheers, Flipster!
It's Mid Wales, just outside Newtown except 4 and 5 which are further west, near Devil's Bridge (Red Kite country) There are so many great places to go in Wales and there really is something for everyone, from waterfalls to mountains, sandy beaches to placid lakes, hidden gardens to great glasshouses. What sort of places are you after? Snowdonia's great for rugged mountains (or take the train to the top of Snowdon!!). |

The usual spectacular image quality we have come to expect from you.
I am truly in awe of the tree shot, I just can't fault it. |

Re: More Mid Wales shots
Hi Markulous...sorry i have not replied earlier but ive had a lot on this week helping a friend out moving into new house n stuff, thanks for the reply on places to visit.
i love wales, i used to get taken there when i was a youngster if we were not holidaying on our boat (my mother had a phobia of flying so leaving the UK didnt realy happen till i was old enough to go on my own ) i remember Tenby the most being one of my favourite places i went, but its been that long ago now its kinda vaig in my memory. what im looking for is picturesque towns and villages mainly...lakes and waterfalls as you mentioned would also be great! ive seen some great shots of waterfalls and it would be nice to try and create some of my own, but im open to suggestions anywhere thats not like where i live cus as ive said its all houses and built up areas which are not nice on the eye so it kinda limits what i can shoot, i have a couple of months more saving to do for my new renault grand scenic (im a couple of grand off my 18 grand target and ive only just passed my test) and then im off on the road to wherever i can get thanks again |

Re: More Mid Wales shots
Stunning set of shots here Mark but the first one is .... <tries to think of a word stronger than stunning> .... STUNNINGLY STUNNING! I would pay to have that hung on my wall any time, absolutely beautiful shot.
Quick run down of the others.... No 2, yup, ok. Well focused, a bit 'straight' and doesn't grab my attention for too long but it's ok. No 1 is superb! No 3 I love the lengthening shadows and the lime green colour as the low sun has toned the grass, has lovely depth to it. No 1 is fantastic! No 4 A cracking composition. I too love wind turbines (can't understand the tree-huggers who moan about them 'blighting' the landscape, I think they look great and should be welcomed by environmentally aware folk - ok, enough of that...) I love the wedge shapes you have combined perfectly and the equidistant turbines complement the equidistant sheep! No 1 is beautiful! No 5 is another cracker. You used the CPL to excellent effect and composed it perfectly. No 1 is amazing! No 6 is very well handled and I don't mind the saturation at all. It just gives it that 'Golden Hour' look which is probably when you took it anyway. CPL used again here? Cracking contrast between the colours of the trees and headstones and the azure sky. N0 1 is awesome! No 7 doesn't do a whole bundle for me BUT is well taken. I love the reflection but the number of FG trees makes it a bit busy. No 1.... WOW! Now, tough question for you Mark.... Can you guess which one I like best? <g> Cheers, Rob
