Re: More Robin
All done on the keyboard up to the last stage. Control "J' to duplicate layer - control = shift "U" tp desaturate - control "J" to duplicate again - control "I" to invert this layer to negative. Change this layer mode to Colour dodge ( it looks white ) and go to filtet "other" and Minimum. I find a 2 pixel setting will bring up a b & w sketch. control = shift "E" flattens the layers and then the Hstory brush with about 25% opacity to overpaint gives a pen-ink and wash effect. Go have fun - good on buildings. |

Re: More Robin
The beauty of this tool is that you can use al the blending modes you have in layers as well as adjusting the opacity. Set the stage in the history palate to where you want to go back to by chosing the history brush and then clicking on the stage in "history". A good example is to use the "screen" mode at about 15-20% opacity to lighten shadows - you can by adjusting the brush size and softness be very selective. In the same way "overlay" at about the same setting seems to give a richness of colour and sharper appearance. More dramatic effects by using the likes of "colour burn". The "darken" mode can be useful in taking the edge off a blown highlight - won't bring back detail lost but not glaring out of the image. Worth having a play.

Re: More Robin
Hi Fang
The history brush apparently has so many applications that I think that you should spend the next week working up a tutorial. Nowhere in any of my 8 ps books is there any information on some of the things you are talking about. I would even give you rep points for it ![]() skip |

Re: More Robin
Great idea Skip, 'cos I'm still not clear on its function TBH
Not that I have the tool (don't think PhotoPlus has it, anyway) but I bet it'd be useful for a lot of PS users ... so how 'bout it Fangman? |
