Motocross Logo

This is a logo I have designed for a fridge magnet calender thingy.
It's a variation of a black & white logo design I use regularly.
The biggest problem I faced was getting the spokes on the mooving wheels right when cutting out the old background, I eventualy used the burn and dodge tools to make a black and white mask. Then I made the spokes on the front wheel darker also using the burn tool. For the back wheel I picked a patch of sky that would blend in with the halos round the spokes.

Looks good to me! Find the black film representation a little heavy and feel the website details need something more than just the colour to make it "belong". Maybe move it halfway between the edge and the "film" so you emphasise it's attachment - at present it's maybe hanging out there. But would agree that both points very minor in a very nicely designed, well executed logo!

Thanks for the comments Markulous
I agree with the frame being a little strong, it's the way it has saved and is ok on the original.
I felt that when the writing was closer the rider looked as if he was about to hit it. Thats why it's how it is. Getting the writing to look right in the space alowed was my bigest problem.

Re: Motocross Logo

Good design. I would boost the colours on the rider / bike a tad more, to go with the flashy design (like you did on your PIMP shot). The black of the frame design makes the black on the bike/rider seem too grey. Other than that , spot on

Re: Motocross Logo

Another logo, just completed.
This one was a bit easier as the less spokes are vissible. I cut round the rider with the magic wand tool instead of creating a B&W mask for this one.
I used the poster edge filter for the effect you see on the rider. (note: I changed the hue of the frame so it is more grey to bring out the blacks on the bike)

Re: Motocross Logo

Think this works better: "film" border grey sets off the blacks and the text "belongs" (tho' uncertain of metallic finish - can see why you used it and appreciate that's down to personal teaste)

I suppose there is an argument for bike facing away and it is a little complex, but really doesn't put me off! I like it!
