Re: My daughters an alien
When you say you over-exposed in PS, I assume you were trying for a high key effect yes? I personally can't really say I like this as the overall tone is grey rather than black and white. If that is the true colour of your daughter's eyes then they are incredible though I have a feeling they are a fair bit darker than we are seeing here.
She's a pretty lass, no question about that. I wonder if you could say a bit more about what effect you wanted to achieve with your processing Manno? I haven't touched the picture or attempted to play with it as you are not showing the 'Image-Edit' button but I'd like to hear your thoughts on what you'd like the image to be like and so forth. Cheers, Rob

Re: My daughters an alien
I'm not sure about the semi hi key effect either. There have been other selective colour hi key images that I've liked a lot, and other straight mono + selective colour that I've also liked, but the combination here of removing detail from the face and leaving it in the edges of the shot, to me, leaves the eyes a bit lost.
Mind you, if YOU like it, that;s all that matters. |

Re: My daughters an alien
One of the "keys" in hi key is to have a lot of contrast, very black blacks and white whites. This then leaves a lot of the form to the imagination. In this image, there is not enough contrast.
In addition, my personal opinion is that hikey in a full face shot doesn't do anything. There is no mystery, no compelling reason to look at this type of image. Hi key should be used judiciously, with a firm purpose in mind. I have tried to so dome hikey with Sashas images, and noone likes them but me. So realize, I think, that many people don't really like hikey photography.
