My First Pictures Post (By Fisher Price)
Hi
![]() Thought i would put some pictures up, taken with my 70-300mm DG APO that landed on my Doorstep this morning. Please bare in mind that im quite an inexperienced photographer and i have NEVER handled a lens like this. I found it VERY enjoyable, finally being able to get some shots that would have passed me by with the 18-55mm Kit lens. None are amazing to be honest, but with practice this lens could be a killer i think. The 2 Macro shots were taken from about 3-5feet away. Any critique/pointers is always appreciated and taken on board. If you go back to the root of the gallery one or two of the shots are underexposure city, so ignore heheh ![]() Focus is a little out on the Beak in this one i think, might have to sharpen that up a little in CS2. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This one was taken in afternoon light. It didnt seem so underexposed until i did a "save for web" from CS2. Guess i need to work on that a little too ![]() Posting rest as hyperlinks so people dont have to download them all. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42.../MacroShot.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42...GooseWater.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42.../GooseFlap.jpg There was just way too much glare behind this one, couldnt get it right. Tried Exposure tool from RAW in RSE but it never seems to look right. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42...Weeeeeeeee.jpg Only posting this one because the goose in the bottom right made me laugh ![]() http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42...reat/swan8.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42...reat/swan7.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42...oooooooose.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42.../Butterfly.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42...ngywhatsit.jpg Pictures aside, i had a great time out there today. Nice and sunny, peaceful and lots of wildlife ![]() (EDIT: I will also be posting this at OCUK forums as i go there too, so if you see it twice, you know why )

Thanks Joe, i saw your comments at the other place
![]() Still havent decided where im going tommorow. Going to look for somewhere that has Birds of Prey i think. Im close to Harewood and they have recently released a lot of Kites, so that is looking promising, especially as they are in a more natural setting. Lotherton hall is close by also, which has a collection of birds. Should be fun!

They are all really good, some are slightly soft, but a bit of USM in photoshop or a sharpen can easily sort that out ! Do you do levels in Photoshop ?

Nice shots Rich bit they're a bit light and they definitely need sharpening to show off the capability of that new lens.

Yeah i toyed around with the Saturation too. Unfortunately what i was seeing in RSE, wasnt what i was seeing in any other app, so i ditched it for the time being. I did do a little sharpening in RSE also, but that is very subtle. I have CS2 and will be experimenting with them tommorow i think
![]() Thanks for the comments! -Rich |
