Re: My Modeling Exploit's
Ray - you should change your username to Mr Sensible
![]() This hobby is far safer for the wallet than helicopters! The boats look really good, and the pics too Any reason that you have specialised in tugs? I guess they must be more stable than a narrow hull (sensible again), and perhaps easier to fit out too. Don't forget Stupot is a chippy for Sunseeker, so he might be able to do an interior for you if you want to make a luxury tug! |

Re: My Modeling Exploit's
When, as a child, I made model boats from plastic kits they were about 0.5 m long I think. Yours look huge
How big is Lady Joan - the boat not your wife.

Re: My Modeling Exploit's
Ray - those look terrific - all you need now is an indoor pond.
![]() My late father-in-law was into RC boats and yachts and made quite a few, and it's a far less frustrating (and expensive) hobby than helicopters. I've just burnt out another tail motor, by the way. And of course that caused the thing to crash. Perhaps I should get back to two dimensions.

Re: My Modeling Exploit's
Have you thought about a radio controlled model of Tower Bridge?
Might be cheaper........ |

Re: My Modeling Exploit's
Hmmm....
At least with boats you can sail them in the almost certain knowledge that they are not suddenly going to hit a concrete floor at a scale 200 mph. I'm beginning to think that the hobby is about rebuilding them rather than actually flying. ![]() Ray - Are your boats electric? They look pretty large, judging by the size of the TX alongside. |

Re: My Modeling Exploit's
Crumbs... I have one of these in my garage! (Model, not a real one!)
My OH used to spend a lot of time making these models. There are a few cluttering up... ahem, stored tidily in the garage. As well as the tug we have a working steam boat, a fast patrol boat (an MTB I am told), a rather old rescue launch and one under construction, a Scottish fisheries boat - whatever that might be! They all work (apart from the one under construction!) but haven't seen water for a number of years now. I showed him your pictures, he's now gone all misty eyed and is mumbling about having to find some decent water

Re: My Modeling Exploit's
Silky
I used to race Class 1 radio controlled offshore racing boats. The type that you see flying around canal basins only the bigger versions. A 4ft hydroplaning boat nearly 2ft wide doing about 60mph with a 20cc glow engine will scare the heck out of anyone. Unfortunately I had to give up quite a few years ago when windsurfers starting voicing their concerns at the speed and size of it. If they has asked nicely I would have towed them round the lake
