Need help deciding
I just can't make my mind up which of these works best.
I kinda like the bw ones, especially the backlit ones but don't know if the crop added or detracted as you can see more of the shoulder on the uncropped version. Which would you choose...and can someone explain to the Mrs that the curves tool isn't for enhancing her boobs :icon_eek: Full colour: ![]() Straight bw: ![]() bw backlit: ![]() bw backlit and cropped:

Thought so.
It's not surprising photographers would go for one type of shot and average joe punter would go for another type. Looking at/for different things I suppose! |

Definately the last one.
The inclusion of the arm just detracts from the shot. |

The ones showing the arm positions make you feel uncomfortable for her.
Where you can't see the arms she could be just laying against something so it looks more relaxed. That seems to improve the shot for me. Not sure the b/w conversion is much to do with the improvement - other than it makes it a bit more 'arty' and less of a personal (and therefore private) image for public viewing. |

Like the lighting / tones of 2nd shot, but composition of last. I assume you are trying your backlight trick here Bachs (shot 4) ? I'm not sure if the effect comes off to left of model, as the slight halo effect at first had me thinking you hadn't "burned" in image up to the model. Just my 2 pennies worths

Great shot Bachs....just clone out the blind pull & possibly the rad to have a finished item. The light through the blind works extremely well......must remember that one

Agree about the background.
There is something about the arm position that says 'hastily covering embarrasment' rather than the intimate sensual nature of the shot. Covering up is right...it just needs some thought how best to do it. |

Bachs,
Number 4 out of the first batch, and I agree that the blind pull cord and rad should be cloned out otherwise both are great shots |

I have looked over the first shots a few times in the last couple of days and there has always been something that didn’t quite fit for me. The main problem is not so much the photography as the pose. I agree that the slightly awkward sitting/leaning back position and the way your wife is supporting herself on her arm doesn’t quite fit or look comfortable but I also think it has a great deal to do with where she is looking and her expression. It appears at though she is looking down at her breasts rather than “thinking” about motherhood.
Unfortunately I don’t have the advice to help you position her in a better way that is both comfortable to her and complimentary to both her pregnancy (to allow this special time in your lives to be captured) and the composition for the viewer. Maybe position her lying down on her side with one hand propping up her head, the other on her stomach to draw on the focal points and have her with either a contented look or a happy smile while looking down in the direction of her stomach. That may draw in the main focal points, allow the happy connection and show a comfortable pose? I know that working with people is difficult and especially so if you know them very well so I don’t envy your task, however if you do manage to capture your wife in the state of pregnancy with the beauty and magic of this moment I am sure it will be worth all the effort. I would definitely stick at it. ![]() Hope that helps a little mate?

hmmm its a tough one, have you tried getting your good lady to stand in front of the blind, so that its natural light, cover her boobiloobiboobiloobs with her arm and have a bit of hair cover her face, kind of coy like?

![]() A similar shot I took last year when my wife was in hospital on the evening before our son was born. Just thought it may help you with the idea, or give you a bit of inspiration or something
