New Forest Creatures

From recent camping trips to the New Forest, we have the furry cute ones...

And the not so furry ones!

Nearly stepped on this little wiggly one...

Cheated slightly in that the next 3 were taken at the Reptiliary

Re: New Forest Creatures

Horse's backside photo made me laugh

I'd say #1 is most technically accomplished, the full face in focus, the exposure keeping everything in check and allowing the rest of the body to blur works well. Helps its a cute wee thing too.

The slow worm and snakes - The adder falls down a bit on not being completely in focus. The curve near the tip of the tail is pushing through the front of the depth of field. Bit of grass down the middle probably couldn't be avoided.

The grass snake lacks contrast and the composition's not great. I think having just the head on one third and then the remaining two thirds showing where its going rather than the head plus length of body would be more effective.

The toad's nice enough - I'd have got down to its level for a more interesting angle. We look down on so much wildlife by virtue of being taller than it, an image at its own height would stand out more.
