New toys arrived
Well today whilst i was at work a nice man in a van arrived with a big box
i was a bit naughty the other day and bought myself a small studio setup the interfit exd200 kit, collapsible background with stand and a snoot.I nearly started my gf off in labour trying to fold up the background she was laughing so much! i did get the knack after many attempts in the back garden, god knows what the neighbours must of thought ![]() Anyway i've never used studio flashes before so will be picking lots of brains over the coming weeks but here is my very first attempt, cropped and a little bit of sharpening applied. what ya think?

Re: New toys arrived
Hey Stu, lovely shot of your better half and a very creditable first effort. Well done for keeping detail in the hair and a degree of separation between that and the BG, not easy. The lighting on her face and neck is well-balanced and the skintones are natural. You've done a very good job there matey!
Not too much longer to go now so we'll be seeing you disappearing under a pile of nappies soon ![]() Cheers, Rob |

Re: New toys arrived
Go with all that has been said, but I am going to say that you don't have a car rush at her.
One of the things to watch out for is two highlights in the eyes, you only want one. Try one straight on and the second to a 45 degree angle. This will add a nice ashadow to her nose. But very good effort for first go. |

Re: New toys arrived
cheers all, yes definately got some practicing to do, when i set this shot up i had no idea just how much room it would all take and everything was sort of crammed in straight on facing the back drop and gf hence the headlights will def try your suggestion hoffy
one thing i was wondering how much space should you leave between subject and background? or doesn't it really matter |
