I like moon pics
![]() Only thing I would say is maybe use a longer exposure as the shot seems to have come out quite dark. |

I like it very much. Indeed its a little dark, but remeber its not full moon where the sun is reflecting completely on it. Good work.

Too long an exposure would make it come out egg shaped. I would use curves etc to give it a boost. |

Thanks guys, i tried 77 shots of the moon, i deleted 60 of them ! lol everything from 30 secs to 1/1250 the slower shutter speeds, even under exposing came out completely blown out, only once i got above 1/125 did i start seeing detail of any description, otherwise it looked like i was taking pics of the Sun lol
I need to have a play with the pics i have and see what i can do with them Thanks again for the comments though |

I tried the same thing last night too!!! Found that the camera just couldn't work out the correct exposure and ended up doing the same!
You'll have found that at the very high f's f22+ you'll get the stars appearing too, any boy is there a lot of them out there!!! |

Nice detail in that shot Ian.
The moon travels across the sky fairly rapidly so anything below 1/60 might be risking motion blur. The darkness of the sky can fool the camera's metering so use manual and keep an eye on the histograms. Always use a tripod, cable release and mirror lock. ![]() Cameron. |

I really love it, the darkness adds something to it. I find it hard taking photos of the moon.

Sammy - know this isn't your thread but I'm going to comment on your pic straight away as something struck me as being a bit odd.
I'm assuming the stars are 'aftermarket' ones as they look far too uniform to be real. But anyway, biggest problem is that you seem to have drawn them in over the dark segment of the moon? The left hand side should be solid black. Also seems to be a grainy effect over the moon itself but I can't work out if thats something you've done or if its just jpeg compression artifacts. Anyway, regarding the original pic - glad to see that at least Garnock knew where I was coming from. ![]() |

Ian, using the self timer will be just as good. RAW will also give you a bit more latitude with the exposure. Good luck tonight, Cameron |

I can't see any stars on the dark side of the moon, there is some spots there but I think they might be not quite shadow highlights. But its all original I promise! |
