Red face Nuts.

Took this a couple days ago, cropped a bit and darkened the clouds a touch.

Re: Nuts.

It certainly appears sharp enough although it is rather dark and is a very left heavy composition. I'd crop the bottom and right halves of the frame to make a square image and get rid of the strip of bare wood which competes for the attention of the eye.

Re: Nuts.

I couldn't figure out if I wanted the bare wood left in or out, and only decided on leaving it in to give some more color to it. I may have to calibrate my monitor, as going any brighter on my screen starts to burn out parts of the image, and I'm still trying to figure out how PS works. I haven't figured out how to select an area or color, and tweak just that yet.. only full image.

Re: Nuts.

The Lasso tool is what you need to select areas of the picture to enhance. It is not desperately dark, just looks to be underexposed by about 2/3 of a stop.

Re: Nuts.

Great namllihs (could you tell me what the s stands for in S Hillman, so I can type that rather than 'namllihs' every time? I find it really hard to get my head around ), made it look much clearer, without losing detail.

Re: Nuts.

I have done much the same as Steve in using the shadow tool but I felt the branch going across the squirrel's face was distracting so I have removed that. I think this makes an improvement but I'll let you decide

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Nuts.

Looks good Rob, I thought about removing the twig but my PS skills would have left him with an ugly scar

Re: Nuts.

What a great capture! I definitely think it looks better without the twig across his face but I actually think it works quite well being dark!
