From the Oban-Craignure Ferry 2

Last one like this never went down too well. This one is a wee bit 'brighter' but it was taken in a very dramatic and changeable bit of weather.Having lived 35 miles away from here,it is pretty typical weather/light for the time of year [Autumn] :

I think that is simplicity at its best. Lovely mountain, with no UV haze, and the sky is extremely dramatic, but well controlled. Some people might complain about the bright strip along the bottom. It doesn't really bother me.

Thanks for looking/comment.That white strip.I have quite a few photos taken from Ferries,in similar lighting, and a lot of them display this line in exactly the same placement ie just where sea meets land. Both slide film and digital. It is obviously the sunlight catching the water but it is something I have wondered about

It's a great place for landscapes and skyscapes if the sun shines.

Where did you live? We go to that area every May (before the midges are out in force ), and one of my favourite places is Dervaig on Mull. Last year we stayed in Ardfern - this year we'll be near Port Appin.

Hah,in my younger days I delivered coal in Appin/Port Appin/Shian.I lived in Ballachulish and the 'Coal Round' covered the above and over to the Onich side of the Corran Ferry,up to Kinlochleven,up to the Kingshouse Hotel and even the Forestry hostel in Glen Etive. All that beautiful scenery and I was not into photography!!!.I can assure you I have seen some breathtaking scenery and light through Rannoch Moor,as good as the best landscape photos you can imagine but all I have are mental images
Look forward to seeing the results of your visit as I do have a soft spot for Argyll in particular and the West Coast & Islands in general,
John.

I like the way that the sun picks out little patches of green. The sky is dramatic and the mountains are great.

Thanks John. I'll post a few shots taken last May.

We stayed in Glencoe village many years ago in February, after there had been a couple of foot of snow. It was spectacular up on Rannoch Moor!
