Re: Our Aussie Christmas.
I've only ever spent one Christmas in the Southern Hemisphere, and i can vouch for the fact that it's great, sitting on a beach on Xmas eve, then sunning myself with Tuna fish sandwiches on Christmas day....Brilliant!
Infact, you've almost captured an exact replica of what it was like (only i wasn't in Oz). Great shot and so unusual to see up here in the cold north! |

Re: Our Aussie Christmas.
Not convinced, sorry. I just can't imagine Christmas without a real roast dinner, Turkey and all the trimmings and a wonderful walk along the Sandbanks promenade camera in hand, wrapped up against the chilly wind but shooting the crashing waves as they hit the rocks. Several friends all together enjoying the walk and finishing up in Jazzy's where they make the most phenomenal hot chocolate I have ever tasted!
So, beach yes, tuna sarnies, yeeuch, no thanks! Having said that, I entirely understand that our Christmas is not up your street Bella, it is no more attractive to you than yours is to us. What i do know is this: I wish you and all your family a VERY foyful Christmas :o) Cheers, Rob

Re: Our Aussie Christmas.
Hi Bella
I can relate to that. In South Florida, all the people from "up north" come down here for the holidays. Ususally it is inclement weather for us, a bit windy, and chilly, anywhere from 50 to 75 degrees F. They spend a ton of money to come here, and by God, they are going to the beach, in spite of the fact that we are wearing long sleeves, long pants, (very unusual here) and turning on the heat!!! We were in Cairnes about 20 years ago, and it reminded me of where I live. Same weather and vegitation. Ah well, different strokes. skip |

Re: Our Aussie Christmas.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments. I couldn't imagine snow on Christmas but I think it would be wonderful to experience (maybe just the once lol I hate the cold)
Namllihs, I didn't take it that you were knocking Xmas in Oz, I thought It might be nice for a Christmas summer loving Aussie to get in on things here and show how we love it. Rob I must say I have never in my life eaten a tuna Sandwich on Christmas Day or any other day. We have Turkey and Roast meats with all the trimmings too, but most time it's just to darn hot to sit down and eat a full Roast Dinner. Cheers and MERRY (Cold or Hot) CHRISTMAS to every one. Bella |
