Painting with Water

Had an idea, and executed it. Using a strobe flash (25 flashes and 20Hz [very fast, basically]) I shot water with my macro lens, and experimented for ages for different effects.
Came out with these. Apologies for the shadow, nothing could be done. What you think?

Re: Painting with Water

An interesting and different idea, these show promise. I think if you experiment some more along those lines you could come up with some really good results. The first one is especially good and I could see something like that selling.

cheers

Thanks Dan, that's what I was planning to do; set it up a little better (better than just a tap and a sink at least ), and try more things.

I really like them. What would happen if you used a colored light?

Re: Painting with Water

They would look odd, but I will try it, I have some gel filters (gren + orange) for my flash. Good idea

Re: Painting with Water

Really interesting! I too think this could go places with expanding the idea and was thinking different lights (torch, laser pointer, etc tho flash may dominate), background colour, etc

Hmm, yes I have all of those things, might try them. Only thing is, I'm trying to work out how to drip water into a bucket from above without it falling down? Perhaps I'll hire someone to hold a hose

Re: Painting with Water

Really want to try something like this myself.....was asked to do some shots for a snooker club ages ago but just wouldn't know how to go on with the strobe stuff.
