Re: palolem beach pics
Definitely need to correct that heavily sloping horizon Aidey. Not sure about the colours in that one either (first one) as it is strongly cyan-biased. In fairness you had a real struggle to get the lighting in that one, the sky is bright the bullocks are dark, not an easy combination.
The men fishing works fine, the curve of the nets adds a pleasing shape to the whole thing. Don't like the beach FG in the last one, it looks almost burnt out on my monitor. The palm trees have an almost sketched feel to them which is interesting. Not sure the ultra-low viewpoint was really needed, at least without some FG interest to focus on and take the eye into the shot. But hey, I'd just chuck the camera in the bag, lie on that beach and soak up the sun ![]() Cheers, Rob

Re: palolem beach pics
i agree with what you said rob i had a little mess with contrasts and it looked ok at first but now im thinking that it was a little bit to much maybe be better if i try and the equivelant of a polerizer using photoshop it might improve it. thanks
also the third one yes it looks burnt out slightly but the sun was so bright and the sand soo white i didnt really know how to avoid it as i only used my auto feature then ive only just started to get into the manual adjustments of aperture priority and shutter. so next time i will try again as im there in may |

Re: palolem beach pics
If you shot in RAW you can use the fill light in #1 and recovery in #3 in ACR in Photoshop - if you have CS3 that is. Lightroom also has these features and maybe other RAW converters too.
Alternatively, you could try the shadow/highlight tool - I think that is in earlier PS versions (as well as CS3). |

There is an option in the layers menu to flatten the image before saving. Another option, but more complex is to select the various areas that need tweaking and do them individually (on separate layers). Check out Rob's selection tutorials and have a practice. As long as you don't overwrite the original file (work on a copy) you can't damage the original.
