Paps of Jura

The foreground is Ruhba na Cille on the Kintyre Peninsula with the Paps of Jura in the background.
Can someone ID the tree/bush ? My wife thinks it's a Hawthorn.

I'm no expert but it could be a hawthorne with the white blossoms, and they can grow and spread in some weird shapes.

Lovely (again) Processing is excellent.
