Re: Pheasant
Its a nice capture but I would have preferred a less tight crop/framing and especially a little more space in front of the bird.
Also play around with depth of field to isolate the subject from the background a little more. Hope that helps

Re: Pheasant
Ray, the instructions are for Photoshop Elements 3, so I don’t know how well they relate to Photoshop Pro.
Open the image in Photoshop. Create a duplicate layer: do this by selecting the Layer menu, then Duplicate Layer In the Filter menu select Blur, then Gaussian Blur, setting the Radius to 80. Open the layers palette and select the “Blurred” layer and then reduce its opacity to about 50%. You should be able to see the original image underneath. Next choose the “Erase” tool and paint the pheasant back in, taking care around the edges. Once that is done, re-set the opacity back to 100% You will now have the Pheasant on a blurred background. Next flatten the image – that’s Layer menu, Flatten Image. Resize the canvas size (I just increased the height) – Image, Resize, Canvas Size – in the box that opens enter the amount you want to increase by (I used the original height value so that the canvas doubled in height. Don’t forget to select the correct anchor point so that the canvas extends below the image. The reflection is created by using a Flood Filter. If you don’t have this you can download it from http://www.flamingpear.com/download.html That’s it. Enjoy.
