Photograph using new Canon 40D

This is my first experience with a DSLR camera... Last week, I purchased the following:
a Canon 40D, Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens, Canon MR-14EX macro lite ring, Manfrotto190PROB3 tripod and 486RC2 head, and a shutter release... This is my best result after one of "playing". Any comments appreciated. Thanks

Re: Photograph using new Canon 40D

That is a good result for your first foray into digital SLR photography . The only think I'd say is that you could probably lighten that quite a lot in post processing, and also if that flower is white, then the white balance is a little off, but apart from that it's good.
This thread might be moved into Photo Sharing, as it contains a photograph

Re: Photograph using new Canon 40D

Welcome to the sharing forum! I've left the link in as the image is just oversize at 304.37kb. (Photo Sharing Forum Rules)

I think this is a good effort, but the flash has left some shadows. If you are using a ringflash I guess the camera was not at 90 degrees to the flower.

There is good detail in the petals and this might be lost if you lighten the picture. However, if you also think it is on the dark side you could try it to see.
